Elite Field of Teams Head to Arlington for Amegy Bank College Baseball Series
The largest slate of college baseball in Globe Life Field history will come to an exciting end with the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series bringing in an elite field of teams. Four ranked teams will head to Arlington in No. 1 UCLA, No. 4 Mississippi State, No. 20 Tennessee, and No. 23 Texas A&M. With Arizona State and Virginia Tech off to great starts as well, the six participating teams hold a combined 44-5 record so far.
“We look forward to hosting this tournament alongside Amegy Bank,” REV Entertainment’s Assistant Vice President of Major Events, Anthony Bartkowski said. “We are excited about the competition that this tournament brings.”
Led by the consensus No. 1 MLB draft prospect and All-American shortstop, Roch Cholowsky, the top-ranked Bruins passed their first major test of the season with flying colors, sweeping No. 7 TCU last weekend. They will face the other three ranked teams in Arlington, including a top-five showdown against No. 4 Mississippi State on Sunday.
“This is an incredible venue, incredible competition, and we are excited to come play some good baseball,” head coach Tom Savage said. “I look at building our team, taking on adversity and challenges. Our guys are ready and we feel ready for the weekend.”
No. 4 Mississippi State has started the season 9-0 under first-year head coach Brian O’Connor. The Bulldogs faithful are hoping O’Connor, who won a national championship at Virginia in 2015, can take Mississippi State back to Omaha for the first time since the program won its first national title in 2021.
Like Mississippi State, No. 20 Tennessee has a new man at the top step of the dugout as Josh Elander was promoted to head coach in October. The Volunteers will make their first trip back to Globe Life Field since 2024 when they won the Shriners Children’s College and won the national championship later that year.
“We started the season in Arlington in 2024 as well and played good teams which ended up benefiting us throughout that season,” Coach Elander said. “This year will be the same. We enjoy playing in a beautiful facility, and we have a lot of competition on our schedule. Our guys are ready to start playing against people in a different uniform, so we are feeling good about this weekend.”
The weekend will also feature No. 23 Texas A&M and Arizona State who will return to Globe Life Field after getting off to undefeated starts. Virginia Tech will make their debut to Globe Life Field following a successful start to their season, going 7-1.
The Amegy Bank College Baseball Series features a nine-game schedule, kicking off with a game between Arizona State and No. 4 Mississippi State on Friday at 11 a.m. CT.
