OKLAHOMA ADVANCES TO MEN’S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES, BECOMES 14TH COLLEGE BASEBALL SERIES TEAM TO REACH OMAHA

ARLINGTON – The Oklahoma Sooners advanced to the Men’s College World Series, sweeping No. 15 national seed Kansas in the Lawrence Super Regional over the weekend.

After opening the season at Globe Life Field in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown. the Sooners became the 14th team to play in a College Baseball Series tournament and qualify for the CWS in the same year since 2021. Five of those teams, including OU, have come from the Shriners Children’s College Showdown that has taken place in Arlington since 2024.

Oklahoma’s postseason run has mirrored the dominance displayed in the opening weekend of the year. The Sooners outscored three Big 12 teams, 32-6, during the Shriners Children’s College Showdown en route to the tournament title. During the postseason, the OU offense is averaging 10 runs per game in seven contests, while taking down No. 2 overall seed Georgia Tech in the Atlanta Regional and the Jayhawks on the road.

The Sooners are last team standing from the 2026 College Baseball Series teams, which began the NCAA Tournament with a record 15 regional bids. OU’s appearance in Omaha also marks the sixth straight season that the College Baseball Series has been represented in the Men’s College World Series with three teams going on to win the national championship (Mississippi State – 2021, Tennessee – 2024, LSU – 2025).

Oklahoma is set to face No. 7 Alabama Saturday at 2 p.m. CT in its opening round game.
