Texas State Wins Inaugural College Baseball Series in Cleburne, Texas
CLEBURNE, Texas — The Texas State Bobcats claimed the first-ever College Baseball Series in Cleburne, Texas Championship on Sunday at La Moderna Field with a 3-0 win over Abilene Christian. The shutout victory completed a perfect 3-0 weekend for Texas State, which included two wins over Abilene Christian and a Saturday night win over Tarleton State.
Texas State first baseman Manny Salas was responsible for the entriety of the scoring in the tournament finale, as his three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning put the Bobcats up for good. Salas was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after batting 6-14 with one home run and four RBI across the weekend.
Other notable performances during the weekend included Abilene Christian first baseman Grant Watkins, who opened the tournament with multi-home run performances in each of his first two games.
